HAVE FAITH IN GOD

HAVE FAITH IN GOD
INTRODUCTION
Faith is having a conviction of receiving a thing that is yet to be seen. It takes an inner eye or mind to bring forth an idea that is only a promise of reality. Faith operates at a level that fear, doubt and anxiety cannot be productive. Hebrews 11:1, 6
What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.  (NLT)
FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW TO PUT YOUR FAITH TO WORK

1. Absolute trust and believe in God is the source of every unfeigned faith –
6. So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. (NLT)  -Heb. 11:6

2. God’s response to human requests most times takes into cognisance the heart and faith of the one making such request.
Therefore I say unto you, what things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive [them], and ye shall have [them]. Mark 11:24

3. There is no impossibility with God as long as our faith can carry what we desire from God.
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things [are] possible to him that believeth. Mark 9:23
4. God is not a magician, He will do what He will do, but you will have to patiently wait for Him until He does what pleases Him.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. Rom. 8:18-19

HINDRANCES TO FAITH

1. Fear – the presence of fear in man is the greatest enemy to that man’s faith
For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba  Father! (AMP)- Rom. 8:15

2. Doubt – God desires absolute confidence from us when we stand to exercise our faith.
Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind. For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord, [For being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), [he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything [he thinks, feels, decides]. - James 1:6-8

3. Anxiety – this is over-expectation. Seeking for an answer without patiently waiting for God’s time, thereby helping God through another means.
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. - Heb. 10:35

SOURCE OF FAITH

The word of God - Romans 1:17, Col. 3:16
Rom 10:17- So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Rom 1:16-17- For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to    everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith.
In conclusion, faith is NOW. It produces results now, when faith meets with the obedience in the word of God.

WHEN MERCY SPEAKS

WHEN MERCY SPEAKS...
Luke 17:11-19
Literally, mercy could be seen as a kind or forgiving treatment of someone who could be treated harshly.
It could also be seen as compassion or forbearance shown especially to an offender or to one subject to one's power.
Moreover, we need the mercy of God in order to secure access to everything obtainable in the kingdom of God.

God revealed Himself to Moses on the platform of mercy (Exodus 33:18-23; Romans 9:15-16).
Jesus revealed to the Pharisees that He came to show mercy (Mat 9:10-13; Hos 6:6)

Whatever is given by God to man, is provided on the platform of mercy.
We receive forgiveness, blessing, healing, ministry, strength to finish strong and so many others, by mercy. Access to the kingdom of God is obtained by mercy.

Any provision we get or obtain without the mercy of God is spiritually illegal (it does not glorify God). No man can receive a thing except it is given by God (John 3:27).
Mercy works at the instance of faith. When living faith is provoked, the mercy of God speaks! (Acts 14:8-10).
Jesus Christ is Mercy personified. Everyone that approached Him for mercy was justified in one way or the other.
When mercy speaks, the impossible becomes possible; the dead situation comes alive; the dry bones live again; garment of iniquity is replaced with garment of righteousness; the handwriting of ordinances (certificate of debt) designed against one is blotted out.

The ten lepers met Jesus on the way to Jerusalem and they cried for mercy. They stood afar off, the law restrained them from moving closer to people, but their heart-cry and deep yearning for the Master could not be hindered.
Remember, the Lord delights in those who fear Him and hope in His mercy (Psalm 147:10-11). Do you hope in His mercy?

Consequently, the Lord instructed them to go and present themselves before the priests, and it came to pass that as they went, they were cleansed, they were healed...
One of the criminals hanged on the cross with Jesus obtained mercy (Luke 23:39-43)

Rejecting the mercy of God implies that we are trying to relegate the righteousness of God, thereby promoting self righteousness.
A man that has not encountered the Cross will never see the need for mercy. He believes he has the power and might to do everything.
Only a humble man (with a contrite heart, spirit and a broken heart) can genuinely seek and obtain the mercy of God.
LORD, have mercy on me...Hebrews 4:14-16.

THE REAL MAN.

THE REAL MAN
Genesis 1:26-31; Psalm 8:3-9
Right from the time of Adam, there has been a great concern and controversy about the discovery of man’s identity. Men have embarked on an endless and futile search (enquiry) of their reason for existence.
One of the greatest challenges of men is identity crisis. The average man is confused about his manhood, masculinity, sexuality, etc

Many thought life was all about riches, while many others thought it was power, yet after obtaining these things, they still remain or remained unfulfilled in life, as the case may be.

What Is Purpose?
Purpose is the reason for someone’s or something’s existence.
God is purpose-driven – He is a God of purpose, and He created everything for a purpose (Rev. 4:11).
Gen 1:27 - God created man....male and female created He them....
He created mankind in two broad sub-categories: male and female.

Why Did God Create Man?
1. To have dominion on earth – To stand as God’s representative on earth (Psalm 115:16; Gen 1:26).
2. To have fellowship with God (John 4:24); to give Him pleasure (Rev. 4:11).

3. To manifest God’s nature and glory (Psalm 82:6; 2 Peter 1:3; Isaiah 43:7, 21). Before He created us, He had pre-ordained us to do good works (Ephesians 2:10; Matt 5:16).

Some Basic Facts About Men (The Male Folks)
1. They are performance-driven (work, achievements, responsibility, etc).
2. They are generally insecure.
3. They like food.
4. They are moved by what they see.
5. They want to take charge.
6. They love to be respected and obeyed.

God’s Purpose For Creating The Male
1. The male was created to be the baseline or foundation (operating system) of the human family (Heb 3:4). God created the man from the soil, but brought out the woman from the man (Gen. 2:18-23).
Every building must begin with the foundation.
People of God, What Are We Building Our Lives On? (Matt 7:24-27)

If The Foundations Be Destroyed, What Can The Righteous Do? (Psalm 11:3).
However, the foundation, as strong as it may be, cannot on its own, provide shelter for one. In the same way, other members of the family/society are important.

2. The male was created to continually dwell in God’s presence (Gen 2:8). We can never fulfil purpose outside the presence of the Father (Luke 15:11-32). Everything we need to carry out and fulfil God’s purpose has been embedded in our God-ordained place of primary assignment.

3. The male was created to cultivate His God-given field (Gen 2:15).
Cultivate – to make something grow and produce a greater yield. To make something fruitful, to develop it unto perfection (Gen 1:28, Matt 25:14-30)

4. The male was created to exhibit visionary leadership (Gen 2:16-17).
He receives the heavenly vision from God (through His personal encounter with God) and leads his family to walk in the way (Joshua 24:15; Proverbs 13:22). He must first of all “do” before he teaches the principles of God’s kingdom (Acts 1:1)

5. The male was created to provide for and to protect his family/household (1 Tim 5:8; Nehemiah 4:13-14)

How Can I Be A Real Man (That Meets God’s Specification)?
1. Having and maintaining a perfect relationship with the heavenly Father
2. Appreciating your family – wife, children, parents, siblings, etc
3. Being a positive reference point to others – leadership by example
4. Cultivating your God-given abilities; Putting your resources to work
5. Commitment to developing others to be the best they can be.
6. Living by faith and building up others’ faith in Christ Jesus.
7. Absolute loyalty and faithfulness to the kingdom of God
8. A pure heart and clean hands

Summarily, conformity with the image of the Son of God (which resides in us), makes us to turn out as the real man that God had pre-designed us to be…(Romans 8:29)

A CHAMPION

A CHAMPION
Lesson Text: 1 Cor. 9: 24-27
This year has been a great year with Real Madrid winning the champions League after so many years, Atletico Madrid also became champion of Spain after Eighteen years. Let's not forget that Arsenal eventually won a trophy after nine good years of barrenness. Barcelona finished the season without a trophy and Liverpool almost won the premier league but lost at the last moment. You remember Manchester United did not even qualify for the Champions league.
What was the difference between those that won and those that lost? This and many other questions I ask myself.
Who is a Champion?
A champion is a person who holds the first place in a contest.
Like the bible says: there are many running the race but only one wins the prize.
How do I become a Champion for Christ?
A.    PASSION
                    i.            Passion to achieve (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)
                  ii.            Passion to win
Your passion shows in the following ways:
1. Determination:
a.)There should be a single minded determination in our Christian life; to live for Christ to the best of our abilities.
b.) The attitude that an athlete has to win is the same kind of attitude that we need to fully live for Christ. Nothing less than full effort is acceptable. We are called to run, not walk. We are called to run not jog.

2. Direction
3. Discipline:
a)      Every believer is to live a life that is careful
· Careful in manner – How we treat others
· Careful in motive – Why we do what we do
b)      Every believer is to live a life that is consistent

      4.  Diligence: quietly and steadily preserving especially in detail or exactness.
·         to remain in the front, you must generate the heat
·         Your work determines your worth
·         The higher you will want to fly in life, the harder you will have to work

      5. Dedication: in dedication we should live the life we have been given in Christ.
      6. Commitment

B.     PURPOSE TO ACCOMPLISH (GALATIANS 2:2 AND PHILIPPIANS 2:16)
If you have or know the purpose of a champion then you will possess the following:
1.      Focus: Once focus is lost, speed is lost. Once speed is lost, success is lost, and ultimately, when success is lost, impact is lost.
a)      Focus on the word of life:
i.) Our focus is to be squarely on holding out the word of life. To hold out means to share the love and life that can only be found in Christ
ii.) Our focus is on the fact that we are given life that is abundant and full here on earth; eternal and incorruptible in heaven.
b)      Focus on living fully:
i.) We do not run this race of life in vain. When we run for Christ, live for Christ and serve Christ; nothing that we do is in vain.
ii.) Everything that you do for Christ will bear spiritual fruit; either in your own life, or in the lives of others.
2.      Fruitfulness. Gal. 2:2
a) The fruitfulness of Christ:
i.) We gain the privilege of all of Christ’s efforts and the power of His sacrifice. From Him we gain the first fruits of the resurrection and the blessing of God the Father.
ii.) We gain the strength of His resurrection and the power of His new life.
b) The fruitfulness in mission:
i.) When we live our lives for Christ, we will be fruitful. We will bear spiritual fruit for the kingdom

ii.) Christ pours His blessing into our lives and gives us victory over the challenges we face in  life.

C.    PERSISTENCE TO ADVANCE (HEBREWS 12:1)
1. The persistence from inspiration.
  a.   The participants:
i.) We gain encouragement from the lives of the great heroes of the bible because they have set an incredible example for us to follow. They have lived out a life of spiritual champions and we learn from both their successes and their failures.
ii.) Examples:
· Moses: How to have an intimate relationship with God
· Abraham: How to take God at His word
· Joseph: How to depend on God in tough times
· David: How to lean on God to rise above our failures
· Esther: How to rely on God’ provision and protection

LET THE REDEEMED OF THE LORD SAY SO

LET THE REDEEMED OF THE LORD SAY SO
Psalm 107:1-2

Definition of the word “Redeem”: to set free from captivity, to save or rescue, to repair or restore, to buy back, to recover ownership of something by paying a specified sum, etc.
Who are the redeemed of the Lord?
They are people whom the Lord has set free (delivered) from the hand of the enemy (Psalm 106:10; Exodus 14:30).

They are people who have been purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14, Acts 20:28).

Four categories of people that the Lord redeemed:
The wandering souls – Psalm 107:4-9
The captives (spiritual prisoners) – Psalm 107:10-16
The afflicted – Psalm 107:17-22
The distressed (who got trapped in the storms of life) – Psalm 107:23-32

What should the redeemed of the Lord say?
‘...the Lord is good and His mercies endure forever...’
They are to proclaim the goodness of the Lord and declare His wondrous works among the people (Psalm 105:1-2).

They must confess their redemption boldly: ‘I am redeemed!’, ‘I am delivered from the chains of sin, to the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ!’ (Galatians 3:13; 6:17)
They must reach out to others, propagating the gospel of Christ (Mark 5:18-20; John 4:28-30; 39-42)

Isaiah 44:22
‘I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, and like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you’

Isaiah 51:11
‘Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.’

Jeremiah 31:11
‘For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.’
