THE REAL MAN.

THE REAL MAN
Genesis 1:26-31; Psalm 8:3-9
Right from the time of Adam, there has been a great concern and controversy about the discovery of man’s identity. Men have embarked on an endless and futile search (enquiry) of their reason for existence.
One of the greatest challenges of men is identity crisis. The average man is confused about his manhood, masculinity, sexuality, etc

Many thought life was all about riches, while many others thought it was power, yet after obtaining these things, they still remain or remained unfulfilled in life, as the case may be.

What Is Purpose?
Purpose is the reason for someone’s or something’s existence.
God is purpose-driven – He is a God of purpose, and He created everything for a purpose (Rev. 4:11).
Gen 1:27 - God created man....male and female created He them....
He created mankind in two broad sub-categories: male and female.

Why Did God Create Man?
1. To have dominion on earth – To stand as God’s representative on earth (Psalm 115:16; Gen 1:26).
2. To have fellowship with God (John 4:24); to give Him pleasure (Rev. 4:11).

3. To manifest God’s nature and glory (Psalm 82:6; 2 Peter 1:3; Isaiah 43:7, 21). Before He created us, He had pre-ordained us to do good works (Ephesians 2:10; Matt 5:16).

Some Basic Facts About Men (The Male Folks)
1. They are performance-driven (work, achievements, responsibility, etc).
2. They are generally insecure.
3. They like food.
4. They are moved by what they see.
5. They want to take charge.
6. They love to be respected and obeyed.

God’s Purpose For Creating The Male
1. The male was created to be the baseline or foundation (operating system) of the human family (Heb 3:4). God created the man from the soil, but brought out the woman from the man (Gen. 2:18-23).
Every building must begin with the foundation.
People of God, What Are We Building Our Lives On? (Matt 7:24-27)

If The Foundations Be Destroyed, What Can The Righteous Do? (Psalm 11:3).
However, the foundation, as strong as it may be, cannot on its own, provide shelter for one. In the same way, other members of the family/society are important.

2. The male was created to continually dwell in God’s presence (Gen 2:8). We can never fulfil purpose outside the presence of the Father (Luke 15:11-32). Everything we need to carry out and fulfil God’s purpose has been embedded in our God-ordained place of primary assignment.

3. The male was created to cultivate His God-given field (Gen 2:15).
Cultivate – to make something grow and produce a greater yield. To make something fruitful, to develop it unto perfection (Gen 1:28, Matt 25:14-30)

4. The male was created to exhibit visionary leadership (Gen 2:16-17).
He receives the heavenly vision from God (through His personal encounter with God) and leads his family to walk in the way (Joshua 24:15; Proverbs 13:22). He must first of all “do” before he teaches the principles of God’s kingdom (Acts 1:1)

5. The male was created to provide for and to protect his family/household (1 Tim 5:8; Nehemiah 4:13-14)

How Can I Be A Real Man (That Meets God’s Specification)?
1. Having and maintaining a perfect relationship with the heavenly Father
2. Appreciating your family – wife, children, parents, siblings, etc
3. Being a positive reference point to others – leadership by example
4. Cultivating your God-given abilities; Putting your resources to work
5. Commitment to developing others to be the best they can be.
6. Living by faith and building up others’ faith in Christ Jesus.
7. Absolute loyalty and faithfulness to the kingdom of God
8. A pure heart and clean hands

Summarily, conformity with the image of the Son of God (which resides in us), makes us to turn out as the real man that God had pre-designed us to be…(Romans 8:29)
