LET THE REDEEMED OF THE LORD SAY SO

Psalm 107:1-2

Definition of the word “Redeem”: to set free from captivity, to save or rescue, to repair or restore, to buy back, to recover ownership of something by paying a specified sum, etc.

Who are the redeemed of the Lord?
They are people whom the Lord has set free (delivered) from the hand of the enemy (Psalm 106:10; Exodus 14:30). 

They are people who have been purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14, Acts 20:28).

Four categories of people that the Lord redeemed:
The wandering souls – Psalm 107:4-9
The captives (spiritual prisoners) – Psalm 107:10-16
The afflicted – Psalm 107:17-22
The distressed (who got trapped in the storms of life) – Psalm 107:23-32

What should the redeemed of the Lord say?
‘...the Lord is good and His mercies endure forever...’
They are to proclaim the goodness of the Lord and declare His wondrous works among the people (Psalm 105:1-2).

They must confess their redemption boldly: ‘I am redeemed!’, ‘I am delivered from the chains of sin, to the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ!’ (Galatians 3:13; 6:17)

They must reach out to others, propagating the gospel of Christ (Mark 5:18-20; John 4:28-30; 39-42)

Isaiah 44:22
‘I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, and like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you’

Isaiah 51:11
‘Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.’

Jeremiah 31:11
‘For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.’
