THE DYNAMICS OF PRAYER Pt.3

Luke 11:1-13

The importance of prayer cannot be overemphasized. For everyone who wants to grow and attain the likeness of Christ, prayer is a necessity. It’s not optional.

In order to take delivery of our God-given heritage, we must be men and women of prayer. Prophetic utterances and visions are fulfilled on the platform of effective, fervent prayer! (1 Kings 18:1, 41-46).

In Matthew 6:5-8, Our Lord, Jesus Christ gave us some key points to consider when we want to pray:

- Don’t be like the Pharisees. Don’t be an attention seeker!

- Make it a ‘one-on-one’ encounter with God. 

- Don’t use vain repetitions…

- Come to God’s presence with faith.

- Acknowledge Him as your Father

After this, He went ahead to show us the pattern or template for acceptable prayer in the sight of God – the model prayer! (Matt. 6:9-13; Luke 11:1-4).

These prayer points must always linger in our hearts when we pray to God: ‘Lord, teach us to pray as we ought to (Luke 11:1); teach us to pray without fainting (Luke 18:1); enable us to pray under the unction of the Spirit (Romans 8:26-27). Help our infirmities oh Lord…

Furthermore, He gave another parable to illustrate the need for importunity in prayer… (Luke 11:5-8).

The summary of this parable is that everyone approaches the presence of God with divers kinds of needs, since He is the only One who can meet us at the point of our needs and also give us the required ‘bread’ (i.e. means of sustenance to meet the needs of our generation) in life. 

If we remain persistent and unwavering in the place of prayer, the Lord will answer us and supply all our needs according to His riches in glory…

Please note that He will answer us, not because of our ‘familiarity’ with Him, but because of our persistence in the place of prayer! (Jer. 28:13; Deut. 4:29).

Keep asking in accordance with God’s will, and it shall be given to you…

Keep seeking Him, and you will surely find Him…

Keep knocking at the Door (Christ the Door) and He will open up to you…

(Matt. 7:7-11; Luke 11:9-13).
