UNDERSTANDING SPIRITUAL GIFTS PART 3 (RELEASING YOUR GIFTS)

Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:27-31

As Christians, we must discover and properly harness the gifts that God has blessed us with, for the growth of the church of God (body of Christ). Everyone called by God has been endowed with the gifts required for service in His kingdom.

Until we begin to release our God-given gifts, the church will continue to lie in a state of dormancy. When we see through the eye of the Spirit, and people begin to step into their God-given inheritance through the stirring up of the gifts of God in them, age-long mountains begin to give way, and the church of Christ marches on triumphantly into the place of destiny!

In Romans 12:6-8, the Bible listed the following gifts:
Prophecy
Ministry
Teaching
Exhortation
Giving
Leadership/Administration
Mercy

Furthermore, 1 Corinthians 12:27-31 highlights the following gifts:
Apostolic unction
Prophetic unction
Teaching grace
Working of miracles
Gifts of healings
Helping others
Leadership/Administration
Varieties of tongues

In 1 Peter 4:10-11, the Bible states:
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

How can I discover and release my God-given spiritual gifts?
Encounter with the Holy Spirit (Jude 20; 1 Cor. 2:9-10)
Receiving inspiration from the Holy Spirit (Job 32:8; Rom. 8:15; 2 Sam. 23:1-2)
Responding appropriately to God’s Word (James 1:25; Matt. 13:23)
Release (yield yourself totally to Him (Rom. 12:1)

Individually and collectively, we have what it takes to take the church of God to greater heights, through the help of the Holy Spirit. God has blessed us with spiritual blessings in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3).
Remember, we have received the Spirit of God, not of this world, that we may know the things that have been freely given to (1 Cor. 2:12).

UNDERSTANDING SPIRITUAL GIFTS – PART 2

1 Corinthians 12:1-11
The difference between disciples of Christ and unbelievers is the supernatural. As Christians, operating in the realm of the supernatural is our spiritual heritage (1 Cor. 2:6-16). It’s impossible to have a grasp on the supernatural without the Holy Spirit (John 6:63; 2 Cor. 3:6).

Personal relationship (fellowship) with the Holy Spirit is what guarantees a true and lasting success in life (Heb. 3:4).
Concerning spiritual gifts, there are about 4 categories of people in the church (body of Christ):

-      People who have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and are not hungry for God.

-      People who have once received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but have become spiritually stagnant/stationary; they have lost their hunger.

-      People who have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit but are hungry for God. They sincerely long for such life-transforming encounter.

-      People who have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and are still hungry and thirsty for more of His presence in their lives (Matt. 5:6).

There are diversities of gifts, differences of administrations, diversities of operations – all by the Holy Spirit.

Spiritual gifts are given to each person for the profiting of the church.

Now let’s look at the spiritual gifts. There are about 9 spiritual mentioned here, and they fall under 3 different categories:

Revelation Gifts
Power Gifts
Utterance Gifts

Revelation Gifts
Word of wisdom: It entails the unveiling of things to happen in the future. God reveals them to you and this gives you the opportunity to prepare for, or possibly influence what will happen (Gen. 6:13; Acts 11:28).

Word of knowledge: God reveals something that is happening (or past occurrence) to you. Through the enabling of the Spirit, you hear even what men are not saying… (John 2:23-25; 2 Kings 5:25-26).

Discerning of spirits: Through this gift, you can size up the spirit in operation, in a person or in any given situation, to know whether it’s the Spirit of God or a strange spirit (1 John 4:1-3; Acts 16:16-18).

Power Gifts
Gift of faith: absolute conviction (persuasion) in the power of God, and in the integrity of God’s Word. It involves ‘declaring those things that be not as though they were…’ (Romans 4:17; 2 Cor. 4:13).

Working of miracles: Through this gift, you can perform miracles (signs and wonders) beyond human reasoning. This also involves proffering solution to seemingly impossible problems through the help of the Holy Spirit (Exodus 17:8-13; 2 Kings 2:19-22; Matt. 14:14-21).

Gift of healing: Through gift, the Holy Spirit enables you to minister healing to people, in different areas of their lives (John 9:1-41; Acts 5:15-16; 19:12).

Utterance Gifts
Gift of prophecy: Through this gift, you proclaim the message of God to others. God uses prophecy to edify, exhort, empower and comfort His church. Every prophecy must be firmly rooted in the scriptures (2 Peter 1:20-21).

Divers kinds of tongues: This gift enables you to communicate or deliver a message from God to the church, in a language which you dont even understand (in many cases) Acts 2:4; 10:44-48; 19:1-7.
Interpretation of tongues: This gift enables you to interpret a message received from God in a clear, simple and understandable language.

The truth is that, these gifts have been given to the members of the body of Christ, for the common good of the church.

Above all, seek the Giver of the gifts, not just the gifts

NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE

Luke 1:35-38
Our God is an awesome God. He has the overall supremacy over all things, and upon everyone. He said, ‘Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is there anything too hard for Me?’
Today, in the church of God (the body of Christ), many people have lost the faith, some are on the verge of losing their faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ…
Many have simply chosen the alternative routes, proclaiming that the Lord, God has forsaken them (Isaiah 49:14-15).
The Lord had promised us ‘…I will never leave you nor forsake you…’ (Heb. 13:5).
The Bible says that God upholds all things by the Word of His power (Heb. 1:3). Heaven and earth shall pass away, but not a single jot of God’s Word will go without being fulfilled…

Do you believe in the infallibility of God’s Word? Do you hold the Word of God in high esteem? Do you covet with all diligence, the promises embedded in the living oracles of God? Do you believe in the Lord your God? Do you believe in His prophets?

What is the state of your heart? Are you among those who draw back unto perdition, or among those who believe to the saving of the soul? (Heb. 10:39).
What are those things that God had declared concerning you, that are yet to manifest? Is there any word of prophecy which had gone forth ahead of you (whether before you were conceived in the womb or which you received from God directly)?

With God, nothing shall be impossible!!! (Genesis 18:9-14).
Timely and positive response to the Word of God is the key to unlocking the supernatural in our lives… Let God be true, but every man a liar… (Romans 3:4).

When God steps into your situation, every impossibility becomes a stepping stone for greater possibilities. The presence of God in your life puts you on a higher pedestal (realm), it places you on the plane of the supernatural…
Mary had a supernatural encounter with God and that changed the course of her life forever (Luke 1:26-38). I pray that you will have a supernatural encounter with the person of the Word of God. Henceforth, the Word of the Lord will locate you at the point of your needs (Psalm 107:20).
The Lord will break every wall of limitations around you! That which seems impossible will become possible.
Every dry bone situation in your life, which signifies spiritual dryness, hopelessness and death, the Lord will breathe upon such today, in the name of Jesus Christ (Ezekiel 37:1-10).

Dry bones shall rise again! With God, nothing shall be impossible!
