1 Timothy 3:15-16
The Church of the living God is the house of God.
It's also the pillar and ground of the truth. The Church of God should set the
pace for strategic leadership in any given nation in the world.
Nations and people in the world are not fulfilling
their God-given mandate; many have even lost the faith, all because the church is
fast losing the significance of its existence...
Jesus said, ‘…Upon this rock, I will build My
church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it’.
The church of God (Ecclesia in Greek) is a
gathering or an assembly of two or more people in the name of Jesus Christ
(Matt. 18:20).
An important thing to note here is that, the name of
Jesus is not just a signature for opening and closing prayer... rather, it's a
power of attorney given to us to represent Jesus in any situation, as we remain
under His authority (John 14:13-14; 15:16).
May the Lord stir up the church of our generation to
wake up to this divine call.
Some
of the features (qualities) of the early church were:
- Absolute commitment to evangelism
- Discipleship (teaching)
- Fellowship (having things in common) - spiritual bonding
- Generosity
- Communion
- Prayer
- Brotherly love and kindness, etc.
In Acts 3, Peter and John went up to the Temple at
the time of prayer, under the power of this corporate anointing. Each of them
also had a direct encounter with the Holy Spirit.
The power of the Lord broke forth such that, a man who had been lame right from
his mother’s womb was healed by the mighty hand of God.
This man who had previously never been privileged enough to see the beauty of
the Temple, walked into the Temple, praising God…
The word of the Lord grew and the number of the men
increased to five thousand (Acts 4:4).
The grace of the Lord will rest upon us as we rise
up to fulfil this heavenly mandate, in the name of Jesus Christ.
