Introduction
Generally speaking it is believed that spoken word
carries weight and capable of making lives or mar it. Some words carelessly spoken
have put some people into troubles whilesome other people have been greatly
blessed and elevated by the reason of same word. If the words of mere men,
ordinary mortals carry this level of potent, then how much of potent (power and
authority) do you think the word of God carries?
God’s word is life. It is real and sure to perform
whatever purpose for which it is sent.
What
moves you?
The real question is what moves you? Are you really
moved by the word of God or you are one of those who will rather believe the
words of philosophers, psychologists, soothsayers or even Medical Doctors over
the word of God? As for Mary, the mother of Jesus, she desired the performance
of the word of God upon her.
“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy
Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:
therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the
Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in
her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For
with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the
Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her”. Luke
1:35-38
The
word of God is sure
The word of God is the only tested, approved and
surest word on earth.
It has never and can never fail. It is true and real.
“For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from
heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring
forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So
shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me
void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the
thing] whereto I sent it”. Isaiah 55:10-11
How can I activate the
potency of God’s word in my life?
·
Believe in Jesus Christ and abide in Him
“If ye abide in me, and my
words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” John
15:7
“Blessed [is] the man that
walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight [is] in the law of the
LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a
tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his
season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”. Psalms
1:1-3
·
Believe on every written word of God
“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” Matthew
4:4
·
Meditate always in the word of God
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou
shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according
to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,
and then thou shalt have good success”. Joshua 1:8
