MY SON, GIVE ME THINE HEART.

‘My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways’. Proverbs 23:26
Heart of anything is the most crucial part of that thing. To determine the real essence of a thing, it will largely depend on the heart of that thing.
What is heart?
Heart to every discipline and profession means different thing to different people.
    ·         To Medical practitioners, it is a  blood-pumping organ: a hollow muscular organ that pumps blood around the body, in humans situated in the center of the chest with its apex directed to the left
    ·         To family and spouses, or even lovers, it is basis of emotional life: the source and center of emotional life, where the deepest and sincerest feelings are located and a person is most vulnerable to pain
·          Biblically speaking, it is a school or faculty where, spirit, soul and conscience reside. It is a place where thoughts and opinion are formed.

Why did God mention the heart and not other part of the body?(E.g. brain, spirit).
·         Your heart is the seat of power where all the decisions take place.
Pro 23:7  ForPro 23:7  For as he thinketh in his heart, so [is] he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart [is] not with thee..
·         It the only place that is big enough to contain God.
“And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you”. Luke 17:20-21
·         Your heart is more important to God than any earthly treasures you may possess.
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” Matthew 6:20-21
·         If God can have your heart, everything you are and have automatically becomes His.
“Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase” Proverbs 3:9
How do you give God your heart?
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: {power: or, the right, or, privilege}” John 1:12
·         Know God as your creator and believe that you are well secured in Him.
·         You must come to God through Jesus Christ and surrender totally to Him.
‘neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved’. Acts 4:12
·         You must have a working relationship with Him (in His word, through your prayers).
·         You must daily worship at His feet.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Rev.3:20
·         Honor God with your substance.
‘For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also’. Mat. 6:21
Finally, the bible says in the book of Heb 2:1- 3
“Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him”
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. “Revelation 3:20.
