LIVING FOR GOD

Gal. 2:20, 2Cor. 5:15

Introduction
A life without God is a life in foolishness. Psm. 14:1 says, The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, [there is] none that doeth good”

He who refuses to submit to God will bow for lesser gods, because outside of God is no life at all. We live in God and live for Him only. It is in God that our lives and beings consist. Acts 17:28 says, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring”.

What does it mean to live for God?
Living for God means to make Him the reason for existence. It means seeing ourselves not being able to forge ahead in life except through God. We put him as the first in all that we do.

Benefits of living for God
There are quite a number of benefits for anyone who lives his /her life for God. But these are few of them
1.      Assurance of secured life – Psalm 91:1-2
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, [He is] my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

2.      Enjoyment of peace with God and humanity – John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

3.      You have life in abundance – John 10:10

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come
that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.

4.      Enjoyment of God’s leading – Psalm 32:8

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

How can I live for God?

1.      Be sure of your salvation
The step to living for God is to know Him and receive Him as your Lord and Saviour. Make sure you have become a son or daughter of God through Jesus Christ – John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:

Note: How do you know you are saved?

Through the word of God. The blood of Jesus makes you safe but the word of God makes you sure. Are you truly converted and saved?

2.      Take a public stand for Jesus Christ

Be bold enough to showcase your newly accepted Jesus Christ to as many as you can. Let everyone know your genuine declaration for Jesus Christ – Mark 8:38, Rom. 1:16-17

3.      Turn from all known wrong doing

The moment you give your life to Jesus and make public declaration for Him, his Holy Spirit dwells in you. Therefore, you cannot be engaged in anything known to be wrong anymore. You are now different and you possess greater power in you than in the world - 1John 4:4, 2Cor. 5:17

4.      Spend time with God in His Word and in prayers

The more of the word of God you read, the deeper you are in Him. When you search the scriptures,  your life becomes more rooted in God and then your prayers will be answered without any hindrances – 1Pet. 2:2, Psalm 119:9, John 5:39

5.      Keep yourself busy in the service of God

Finally, anyone who must live for God, and for Him alone, will be in regular service of God. Because God saved you to engage you to minister to other people – John 15:16
