Resurrection is a revival from inactivity or disuse. For someone to
resurrect, the person must have died. Jesus was crucified and He rose on the third
as He had earlier said. His resurrection is the reason why we are today,
being called Christians. If Jesus had not resurrected, then the faith we practice
today would have been reduced to nothing.
WHAT DOES THE RESURRECTION MEAN TO CHRIST?
1. THE RESURRECTION IS A FULLFILLMENT OF PROPHECY.
Psalm 16:8-11 (KJV) “8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9 therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. 10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Acts 2:22-32 (KJV) “22 Ye men of Irsael, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: 23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have Taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: 24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. 25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 27 because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. 29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day. 30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God has sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.”
2. THE RESURRECTION ESTABLISHES THE
LORDSHIP OF CHRIST.
Acts 2:32-36(KJV) “32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. 34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou my right hand. 35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
3. THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST ENABLED CHRIST TO BRUISE THE HEAD OF SATAN.
Gen. 3:15(KJV) “15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
1 John 3:8(KJV) “8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
THE
RESURRECTION HAS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT MEANING FOR A CHRISTIAN.
1. CHRIST’S RESURRECTION ASSURES CHRISTIANS OF THEIR OWN RESURRECTION.
Christ is the down payment, the pledge, or guarantee of the Christian’s own resurrection.
1 Cor. 15:20-24(KJV) “20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of he that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order Christ the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.”
1 Cor. 15:50-53(KJV) “50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.51Behold, I shew you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”
2. ANOTHER MEANINGFUL THING FOR A CHRISTIAN DUE TO CHRIST’S RESURRECTION, IS THAT CHRIST WAS RAISED FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION.

2. ANOTHER MEANINGFUL THING FOR A CHRISTIAN DUE TO CHRIST’S RESURRECTION, IS THAT CHRIST WAS RAISED FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION.
The resurrection is linked to our
salvation.
Rom. 4:24-25(KJV) “24But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” teaches that a dead Christ could not redeem man.
To encourage you and I to have strong faith pertaining to the possibility of salvation, due to the resurrection of Christ, Rom. 10:9 declares, “…if thou shalt believe in thy heart that Jesus rose from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Rom. 4:24-25(KJV) “24But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” teaches that a dead Christ could not redeem man.

3.
THE THIRD THING THE RESURRECTION DOES FOR A CHRISTIAN IS THAT IT GIVES US A
LIVING HOPE, WHICH PROVIDES COMFORT.
1 Pet. 1:3-4(KJV) “3Blessed
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant
mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead, 4To an inheritance incorruptible, and
undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.”
1 Thess. 4:13-18(KJV) “13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
4.
THE RESURRECTION GIVES A CHRISTIAN POWER.
Phil. 3:10-11(KJV) “10That
I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his
sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any
means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.”
Phil. 4:13(KJV) “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens Me.” is written because of Jesus’ victory over death. Christ gave this resurrection power to all that believe in Him
WHAT DOES THE POWER OF RESURRECTION DO FOR US?
1. The Power of resurrection makes us to know Him when we believe! John 14:15-18(KJV)

2. When the power of resurrection is
poured out in our hearts. It gives us love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness,
kindness, self-control, faith, and hope. Galatians 5:22 “But the fruits of
the Spirit are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
3. The same Spirit that raised Him from the dead gives life to our mortal bodies. He provides healing and will raise us up in the day of the Lord.
3. The same Spirit that raised Him from the dead gives life to our mortal bodies. He provides healing and will raise us up in the day of the Lord.
Romans 8:10-11 “10And if
Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life
because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of Him that raised up
Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall
also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwells in you.”
4. We can receive resurrection life that makes us to be born again. We become a new creation. Old things are passed away and behold all things become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17-19
5. We can receive forgiveness for all our sins, past, present, and future. Hebrews 10:12-23

6. We can walk in a sense of God’s
presence and power because His life is in us. 2 Corinthians 2:10-16
7. We can have hope when there is no hope because the Holy Spirit now leads us and encourages us to know that all things do work together for the good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
Romans 5:1-5(KJV) “1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 and patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

WHAT SHOULD WE DO TO RECEIVE THIS RESURRECTION POWER?
1. Receive Jesus Christ as your Lord
and Saviour. Romans 10:9-13; John 1:10-12
2. Walk in Christ by praying every day. Jude 1:20(KJV) “But ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.”
3. Read God’s Word daily (which is the Bible). The same Spirit that the risen Christ sent lives in you. That same Spirit wrote the Bible through the prophets and apostles. He will cause you to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ as you become more like Him.

Romans 8:14 -17(KJV) “14For as
many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have
received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of
God: 17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and
joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also
glorified together.”
