UNITY IN THE CHURCH

               What is Unity?

                                    (Genesis 11:1-9, 1 Cor. 12: 12-26, Phil. 2:1-11)
I have been in many churches within GAC and outside. I have seen these churches grow at inception but all of a sudden there is sharp differences and the church that is fast growing begin to go backward or stagnant and I keep asking myself what happen??????  I asked because I see we are on the right path and I don’t want what as happen to other to happen to us. The message today is for the pastoral team, the team leads, work force and you members.
To be honest what we are about to discuss today I have not seen it in the this parish but I think God what us to write it down and when we get to that point it will be easy to cross it.
·                        Unity is an un-reduced or unbroken completeness or totality.
In the book of Gen. 11: 6 the heavens were afraid of the unity of son of man. The verse said “the lord said, Behold, they are one people and they all have the same language ……………….and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.
If God is afraid of unity of man then the Devil will be more scared of unity of Children of God and as such will make sure there is division among them.
Looking at the Phil. 2, Here Paul is instructing the church how they are to act one to another. He’s leading them to unity. And it’s unity for a purpose. Vs. 2 says "working together with one heart and purpose." It’s when we follow these instructions of Paul and we, the Church, are united, that we will accomplish our purpose.
·                 There are three purposes of the Church which are;
1.       To worship God
2.       To build up the saints
3.       To spread the Good News.
In order to see what is necessary for us to achieve unity, let’s look at the four things paul  the church in philippi to do.
1.       Don’t be selfish. (vs. 3) The society in which we live is a very self oriented society. The big question we ask when we have a decision whether to do something or not is, "What’s in it for me?" or "How will I benefit from this?"
2.       Don’t live to make a good impression on others. In such a success-oriented society, it seems that everyone wants to impress others with their accomplishments.
3.       Be humble--think of others as better than yourself. Luke 18:9-14
4.       Be interested in others. Here we move back to the concept of selflessness and teamwork. The Church really is not a one-man show. The Kingdom of God isn’t about what you are doing, or about what I am doing. It is about what we are doing together.
·                        What causes disunity in the church?
1.       Superiority and inferiority complex
2.       Back biting and gossiping (mind what you say and who you discuss the church with.) if I discuss someone with you be sure I will discuss you with someone.
3.       Caucus in the church.
4.       Too much secrecy in church activity.
5.       Lack of follow up.
6.       Unforgiving and unable to say sorry.
·                         How can Unity be sustained in the church?
Let see 1. Cor. 12: 12-26
1.       You are important in the church
2.       Every group and everybody are important in the church.
3.       If there is anything in your mind ask question for clarification.
4.       One mind and one vision. Eph. 4:1-6
5.       Forgiving one another.

£¥#UNDERSTANDING GOD’S BLESSINGS#£¥

              Genesis 12:1-3; Proverbs 10:22
Blessing is an empowerment to prosper. It is a supernatural release of the power of God upon a man. Many times, people receive blessings through pronouncement from the mouth of God; they also come from the mouths of anointed servants of God.
God wants all His children to prosper and abound in good health (3 John 1:2)
Our God delights in the prosperity of His servants (Psalm 35:27b)

God called Abraham (in Gen 12) and blessed him, in order to make him (Abraham) a blessing. God is purpose-driven! Everything He does is centred around His divine purposes, and His purposes are established by His Words.
When purpose is not well defined, abuse is inevitable. If we don’t understand the purpose of God’s blessing, we have a high tendency of abusing it.

Prosperity in the light of God’s Word is a product of covenant walk (relationship) with God. (Deut 8:18)
We need to know the ‘WHY’ and ‘HOW’ of God’s blessings, so that we can be the custodians of heavenly resources.
WHY (the purpose)
HOW (the approach)
·         WHY GOD BLESSES
God blesses us, so that we can be a channel of distribution (blessing) to others. (Gen 12:1-3). He wants to make us custodians of heavenly resources. We must be willing to release the blessings upon others.
God blesses us in order to establish His covenant. (Deut 8:18). He blessed Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants, in order to establish His covenant with them.
He blesses us to restore us (Joel 2:23-27) – to give us double for our trouble; divine abundance in place of lack; He replaces our shame with fame.
He blesses us so that we can always remember Him (Deut 8:18)
He blesses us to become promoters of His Kingdom (Isaiah 43:21). He wants us to use the heavenly resources He has bestowed upon us, for the advancement of His Kingdom.

·         HOW GOD BLESSES
Through priestly or prophetic blessings – Numbers 6:22-27; Gen 14:18-19
Through divinely inspired ideas – Gen 26:2-3; 41:33-37
Through parental blessings – Isaac to Jacob (Gen 27); Jacob to the patriarchs (Gen 29)
Through divine favour – Exodus 12:35-36; Psalm 102:13
Through the works of our hands – Psalm 1:3; 67:5-7

HOW TO RECEIVE THE BLESSINGS OF GOD
The fear of the Lord – walking in His ways, delighting greatly in His commandments (Psalm 128:1-6; Psalm 112:1-4)
Living by the Word of God – Psalm 1:1-3; Joshua 1:8
Seeking the Kingdom of God first – Matt 6:33
Getting involved in things that further promote the Kingdom of God – Mal 3:10-12
Diligence in our work – Deut 28:12
Giving to the needy – Proverbs 19:17; 28:27; 11:25

PRAISE LOOKS GOOD ON YOU

  • Praise is the act of making positive statements about a person, object or idea, either in public or privately.
  • Praise implies saying or writing good things about God. It’s a way of expressing thanks to or love and respect for God.
  • Praise is the act of exalting or extolling God for what He has done, or what He is yet to do.
  • Importance of Praise
  1. Praising God is the reason for our existence. We are created to show forth His praise (Isaiah 43:21)
  2. Even before we were conceived, the Lord had predestined us to manifest the praise of His glory (Ephesians 1:5-6)
  3. Praise is the end result of our trials and temptations in the Lord, and it brings forth the glory of the Lord (1Peter 1:7)
  • Benefits of Praise
  1. Praise brings you out of the land of slavery, into the place of destiny.
  2. Praise guarantees the presence of God (Psalm 22:3, Exodus 15:11)
  3. When you praise God, problems take to their heels...they can’t stand the presence of the Most High God.
  4. Heartfelt praise provokes the blessing of the Lord, in such a way that the heathen are gripped with fear (Psalm 67:5-7)
  5. Through sincere praise, God turns around your situation for good; everything begins to work in your favour...

ADVERTISING CHRIST

Always ask this question when you  are taking any step
  1.    Is Jesus happy with what am doing?
  2.   If Christ is on earth will he do the same    thing?
3.       Remember you are an Ambassador of Christ.
4.       Many can be converted through your attitude than your sermo
Your attitudes preach a better sermon than your Mouth

As Christian let ask ourselves these question again.

1.       Does what am eating/drinking glorify God?

2.       Is what am wearing glorifying God?

3.       Are mine where Christ want me to be?

4.       Is what am saying showing am a Christian?

     5.       Act 11:26 in Antioch were the disciple first call Christian. People most have seen something in them.

When things want to become controversial afford it and say like apostle Paul if eating meal will make my brother stumble I will stop eating meat. 1 Cor. 8:13.Christianity is not what your practice inside the church Who tell people that Peter was one of the disciples? John 18:25-27 You can advertise in your word That is through preach

Here are two ways of preaching the Gospel .Acts 20:20

               ·         Mass evangelism

               ·         Personal evangelism

Be an evangelist like Andrew who brought Peter to Christ.

               John 1:40-42.

Always create an opportunity to preach the word.

If every member will win one person and teach them to win others  and the process continue like the network business, the church will be fill  within a month.

REWARD OF ADVERTISING CHRIST.

                1.       Blessing of God

                2.       Good health

                3.       God will give other men in exchange for you. Isa. 43:4

                4.       You create Joy in heaven.  Luk. 15:10
      5.       Great place in heaven.Your position in heaven will be determine by the number of soul you have won to the kingdom not  your title or activity in the church.

DEACON. OLUWAYIMIKA ANIBABA

Acquaint yourself with God

What does  acquaint means?
   1.   To furnish with knowledge. To make someone or yourself familiar with someone or something. To come in personal contact with someone.
    2.   God remains a constant factor in life. Our fulfilment of purpose in life will be determined by our level of adherence to the ways of God.
His ways are far higher than ours....
3.    Acquaintance with God implies – submitting to God, agreeing with God, coming to terms with God, yielding totally to God’s ways, reconciling with God, being in harmony with God (integrating your ways and thoughts with His).
“Acquaint now yourself with Him [agree with God and show yourself to be conformed to His will] and be at peace; by that [you shall prosper and great] good shall come to you”.  – (Amplified) Job 22:21-30.

What are we required to know about God?
His person (nature), His mind, His ways.

3 IMPORTANT PERSONALITIES CAME TO JESUS FOR DIVINE INTERVENTION:
The nobleman (John 4:46-53)
The centurion (Matthew 8:5-13)
Jairus, one of the rulers of the synagogue (Mark 5:43)

In the interaction they had with Jesus, we could deduce that God wants us to continually increase in the knowledge of Him. He wants us to increase in the faith. As good as signs and wonders are, we cannot live by them sustainably in the kingdom of God, we can only live by faith in God (the just shall live by faith...).
`People that live merely on signs and wonders won’t command exploits in the kingdom of God. But when you live by the Word of God, signs and wonders will follow you... (Mark 16:17)

How can we acquaint ourselves with God?

1.    Brokenness (2 Corinthians 12:7-10; Genesis 32:24-28)
2.    Receiving His Words and laying them up in our hearts (Proverbs 3:1-4)

VICTORY OVER FAILURE

Failure may be define as lack of success, non-fulfillment, defeat, underachievement, never-do-well, disappointment, no-hope, write-off, etc.
HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH FAILURE?
·         Have a correct attitude towards failure. I Cor. 10:13

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to : but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Cor. 10:13.
·         Don’t take failure too personal (don’t internalize failure)

·         Let failure change your direction (Let it not kill your direction)

·         Ask the right question.
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” John 9:1-3.

4.       God is looking for a woman who can stand in gap for her family. Prov. 31:16-
