GOD'S REWARD SYSTEM

GOD’S REWARD SYSTEM
Matthew 19:16-30; Mark 10:17-31; Luke 18:18-30

Reward can be defined as a thing given in recognition of one's service, effort, or achievement.
Reward is the one of the greatest motivating factors behind every hard-work or endeavour in life.
As humans and God's people, we expect our reward from God (on earth, in heaven, or both).
A young rich ruler came to meet Jesus. This man desperately wanted the reward of eternal life. But it was obvious that he had a wrong perspective about God's reward system.
Many times, we think we have what it takes to meet up with God's standard, but when the Light of God's Word shines upon us, we will see the weakness of our so-called righteousness - (Gal. 3:12)
From Jesus' discourse with the rich young ruler, we could see that, putting one's absolute trust on earthly riches could hinder such a person from obtaining the heavenly reward (1 Tim. 6:9,10).

Important things to note about God's reward system
1. God is the Rewarder (Hebrews 11:6). He is the Owner and the Giver of the reward (James 1:17; John 3:27).
2. He will reward everyone according to his/her works
3. God's ways are not always our ways (His reward methodology sometimes contradicts ours) - Isaiah 55:8-9.
The first shall be the last and vice versa....This is one of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God.
4. God's timing is different from ours

What the package entails:
1. A hundred-fold increase
2. Everlasting life in the world to come...

What must I do to position myself for God's reward?
1. Acknowledge God and yield the totality of your life to Him
2. Honour God with your substance (Prov. 3:9; Malachi 3:10-11)
3. Commit yourself to service in His vineyard (make yourself available) - Exodus 23:25. Be rich in good works (1 Tim. 6:19)
4. Abstain from every form of evil (1 Thess. 5:22). Embrace righteousness; eschew iniquity (Hebrews 1:9)

JOSEPH THE MAN OF PURPOSE

JOSEPH THE MAN OF PURPOSE
LESSON TEXT: GENESIS 50:15-21, GENESIS 37:1-36

WHAT IS PURPOSE?
Purpose is a reason for action (Eph 1:2-10) deliberate plan, a proposition, an intention, a design (Rom. 8:23) and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

Joseph was a man of special purpose as he was used to fulfill God’s special purpose in his time.

JOSEPH'S LIFE
Joseph was the second to the last born of Jacob the son of Isaac. He is the son of Rachael, the loved wife of Jacob. He was so loved by his father but despised by his brothers.
He was the star of the family. Gen. 37:1-2 the bible was talking about Jacob but tells the story of Joseph.

JOSEPH'S DREAMS
Gen 37:5-9 he had a dream that he would one day rule over his family (your dream can create enemies for you)

THE FIRST PHASE OF JOSEPH'S LIFE (IN HIS FATHER'S HOUSE)
He was an over pampered boy of his father, he had all he wanted and he got the best of everything. He had a dream which was bigger than him in his father house.

THINGS TO NOTE
Even though Joseph had a dream He was not in a position to fulfill it (God's plan)
1. He was not ready to abandon his father's love
2. He was not matured (he lacked experience) so, God used his brother to take him out of his father's house.
God sometimes takes us out of our comfort zone to fulfill purpose

SECOND PHASE OF JOSEPH'S LIFE
(Potiphar's house)
He arrived in Egypt as a slave, sold to Potiphar an officer of pharaoh

THINGS TO NOTE
1. The Lord was with Joseph even though he was in a strange land
2. The Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand
3. Joseph found favour in the sight of Potiphar
4. He was made the overseer of the household
5. He had authority over the household
6. God blessed Potiphar's house and business because of Joseph
He was comfortable again then problem arose again. Potiphar's wife began to seduce him again.
He was to choose between purpose and his personal comfort
Remember: don't get stuck in your God given success and miss the God given purpose

THIRD PHASE OF JOSEPH'S LIFE
In the prison
His decision ended him in jail. He landed in a special jail. Still he didn't stop being productive.
He soon became a leader in the prison. Gen.39:23
He had the opportunity to meet with the personal assistant to pharaoh
You can be in prison and still be prosperous.
What is success then? It is not defined by how much you have. Success is to be in God, in the center of God's will.

FOURTH PHASE
In the king's house
He was remembered by someone he had helped.
He finally became the prime minister in Egypt
You might have been disappointed because people have overlooked you, you may feel like you are abandoned or worthless but it is just for a season
His brothers came and bow down for him. He was not there for their worship but to save life.

Joseph fulfilled his purpose in life because he avoided unnecessary distraction. Worldliness is a major distraction, so run away from sin and then you can fulfill purpose. Put God at the head of your purpose and it will come to pass.

RESTORATION

TOPIC: “RESTORATION”!!!
Joel 2:23-26, Psalm 23:1-6.

RESTORATION - “The act or Process of returning something to its ORIGINAL condition by repairing it, cleaning It etc.”
It also means the “Act of bringing back something that Existed before”.
It is also defined as “an act of returning SOMETHING that was Stolen or Taken”.
God had a MASTER plan for MAN from the beginning-Gen 1:26-28, The Devil however felt he could thwart that Plan-Gen 3:1-5, because being the ‘Thief’ he is John 10: 10, he only comes to steal hijack, takeaway, disposes, forcibly obtain, waylay, double-cross etc. people of what belongs to them. The list of what we have been robbed off is inexhaustible: Peace, Health, Blessings from God, career growth, Promotion. The list is endless.
Many people often ‘resign to fate’ and concede their loss to the enemy. A few tips to overcome this ‘MIND-SET’ includes:
Knowing who you are-The Image of the Living God, Gen 1: 27, Gen 9:6, Psalm 8:4-6 what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet.
The Son/Daughter of The Most High God: Rom 8: 15  For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father! (AMPLIFIED Bible), Psalm 139:14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
Knowing what God says concerning YOU: Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end, Isaiah 49:15, Whilst its possible for a woman to forget her nursing child, God is swearing by His Word that He will not FORGET YOU!!!
God however demonstrated His commitment to the initial MASTER Plan by availing us with Redemption through The Cross: Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us”.

RESTORATION- “A CASE STUDY OF JOB”.
FACTFILE:
He feared God and eschewed Evil- Job 1: 1-2.
By the standards of that period, Job was a very very rich man, Job 1:3-4.
The Crisis that hit JOB was a VERY UNUSUAL ONE!!! Job 1: 13-22, 2:7-8.
Job was Calm when hit by the STORM- Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth”
Job Showed he was man after all- Job Chapter 3, God knows about it. The Pain, the feeling of failure, the anxiety, the insecurity,
Sometimes, life challenges will tempt you to forsake GOD- Job 2:9.
CHARACTER must be built during our transition. See the exchange between Job and GOD during his TRAIL. Job Chapters 38-42.
JOB eventually got DOUBLE for his Trouble Job 42:10-17.

Restoration Requirements (RR)
2 Chronicles 7:14 - If My People, THE IF CLAUSE…..
Isaiah 55:7 Return unto the Lord!!! “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon”.
Walk with GOD!!! Deut 5:33 (Read KJV) “Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess” (NIV).
Empower yourself with the WORD - Study the Word. 2 Tim 2:15, Joshua 1:8.

Restoration Nuggets
Hang On to GOD’s WORD and CONFESS IT- Psalm 119:105 ‘Thy Word is LAMP’ meaning it gives illumination, Revelation, Insight,  Deut 12: 28Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the Lord thy God”,
Speak into that situation- “Dry Bone Confession Mode”. Ezekiel 37:1-14, Use the capability that God has given you Proverb 18: 21 Your Tongue, Deut 32:1.
The “elements” can hear and Obey us when we speak (See scenario of Sun Standing still in Joshua 10:13)
Psalm 8:2, Matt 21:16 God has perfected Praise through your mouth-PRAISE GOD CEASELESSLY!!!
Provs 40:30And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord”,
Psalm 150.
Ex 15:11 “Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
Quote: “You don’t really know Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you have!”

Aspects of Restoration
Spiritual and Financial Restoration- 3John 1:2.

Luke 8 23-25 Jesus is the MASTER of the Storm,
Put on the Whole armor of God because the Evil day will come Eph 6: 13.
