THE ESSENCE
OF MAN
Man is God’s
creature. He created man to please Him and enjoy all the best of life. Man was
made to show forth the praise of God and represent Him in every sphere of life.
“But ye are a chosen generation,
a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth
the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous
light-1Peter 2:9”
WHY DID GOD CREATE MAN?
To worship/praise Him
To prove to Satan and fallen
angels the supremacy of God
To occupy and engage the earth
– Gen. 3:28
And God blessed them, and God
said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue
it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
To teach the erring generation
the way of the Lord and restore them back to God - Ezek. 3:17
Son of man, I have made thee a
watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and
give them warning from me.
But ye, beloved, building up
yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves
in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal
life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with
fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the
flesh.
(Jude 1:20-23)
WHAT IS MAN? - Psalms 8:4
Man is a dust – Gen. 3:17-19
And unto Adam he said, Because
thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of
which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground
for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns
also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of
the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto
the ground; for out of it was thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt
thou return.
(Gen 3:17-19)
Man is as grass - James 1:10, 1Peters 1:24
But the rich, in that he is
made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. For the sun is
no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower
thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall
the rich man fade away in his ways.
For all flesh is as grass, and
all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the
flower thereof falleth away:
(1Peter 1:24)
Man is a mortal – Job 4:17
Shall mortal man be more just
than God? Shall a man be more pure than his maker?
A man born of a man is but a
few days – Job 14:1
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh
forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and
continueth not.
Man inherits death and will die
sooner or later
For this corruptible must put
on incorruption, and this mortal [must]
put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption,
and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass
the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
(1Co 15:53-54)
THE UTMOST DUTIES OF MAN
Fear of God – Eccl. 12:13
Let us hear the conclusion of
the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole
duty of man.
(Eccl. 12:13)
Soul winning – Dan. 12:3, 2Corinth. 5:18 – 19
And they that be wise shall
shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to
righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
(Dan 12:3)
And all things are of God, who
hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the
ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the
world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed
unto us the word of reconciliation.
(2Co 5:18-19)
Love of others – Luke 10:27
And he answering said, Thou shalt
love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all
thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
(Luk 10:27)
WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR?
For we must all appear before
the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body,
according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
(2Cor. 5:10)
And as it is appointed unto men
once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear
the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second
time without sin unto salvation.
(Heb 9:27-28)
